Principal Biography

Michael O. Murray is a senior executive attorney with over 20 years of professional experience. He began his career as an officer-attorney in the US Air Force Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, where he served as Chief of Claims & Tort Litigation at the Air Force Development Test Center, and Associate Counsel for the Department of Defense Contract Management Command. He was honorably discharged from active military duty and was awarded the National Defense Services Ribbon, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. After the military, Mr. Murray served as Associate General Counsel for a large regional insurance company where he managed more than 1,255 litigated claims worth $25 million, and later as Chief Operating Officer of a government agency where he oversaw personnel operations for 4,700 employees administering more than $2 billion in state and federal social programs. Mr. Murray has also served as Vice President & General Counsel for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a $300 million, 30,000-student research and teaching institution with campuses across the US, Asia, Europe, and the Middle-East. Aside from his formal career positions, Mr. Murray has served as Chairman of the Indiana Child Fatality Task Force, a mentor and speaker for the University of Central Florida/Embry-Riddle Leadership Enhancement Program, and a facilitator for the Project MR youth development program. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the Volusia-Flagler YMCA Board of Directors. He was honored as a 2006 Indiana Minority Business Magazine Champion of Diversity, and writes and speaks on management, leadership, legal, and child-rearing topics. Mr. Murray holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs/Law and Public Policy from the Indiana University School of Public & Environmental Affairs, and a Juris Doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana.
